Monday Rebound?

Well, it wasn't a huge rebound but I did manage to post a small win of $14 over the course of a little more than 200 hands for the night. Had I been playing $0.05/$0.10 this would have been an awesome showing. At $1/$2 it is slightly less impressive, but I will take a win any day of the week. Especially Wednesdays and Thursdays.

I stuck to one table all night and was very diligent about taking notes. I came across one player tonight with a note that I had made sometime in the past. Apparently I was not being quite so diligent at that time as this note didn't tell me much, other than this person likely sucked out on me. At least that is my best guess as "retarded shitcake" didn't really convey a whole lot of useful information, nor was it terribly PC. I hope it at least felt good to write it at the time.

You should keep a glossary for your notes on players so that you can figure them out later. You also need to know how they sucked out on you.

Hey cc,

Definitely good advice!

When I am being diligent about note taking they turn out to be slightly more descriptive, and thus useful, than one liner whiney comments. I keep meaning to come up with a nice standard template for my note keeping but it has been pretty haphazard to date - I try to note what people will raise with, cold call with, 3-bet with, bet out with, c/r with, call down with, etc. So far, I have ended up with a mish mash of notes.

I could always do the import/export thing from poker tracker I suppose but so far that has seemed like an awful lot of work. I imagine it would be quite useful in the end if you are playing with the same people regularly.

Thanks!

"retarded shitcake"

LOL

Sounds like my notes - however - it does convay a message.

All I have on 90% of my notes is "fish". Then once I see that he does something like "bluff raise river" it actually starts to make sense.

The PROBLEM is most fish you only see once. And if you see them more then once you remember them.

Then the problem number to is the size of just how MANY players I have "fish" next to. Where I play there is no note taking ability so I just rely on memory. It gets rather tedious to page through 1000 players to see . . ."fish".

Not that I'm cutting down note taking but I have givev up on taking "outside' the network notes in Excel.

Floppy, that "retarded shitcake" note cracked me up!

FWIW, I try to make notes on how each player plays preflop (PF) and post flop (AF) by leaving a note on something that I see that is out of the ordinary. Instead of "fish", the note may be for example:

PF: raises with A8o in EP
AF: will chase to river with single Ace

Hey grinder,

I usually try to be as descriptive as I can given the limitations of the poker site software. I do find myself making venting comments instead from time to time though. I have never tried to take any notes using any outside software and am not sure I would have the discipline to do a good job of it. I assume you are talking about the Syndicate - I have yet to jump in that pool.

Heya michael!

I TRY to take similar notes as you. I have reduced the number of tables I play and have been much better about taking better notes lately. The odd smart ass comment does find its way through still though.

If I were to play at higher limits I would be more apt to take better notes (or so I tell myself). I guess there is no time like the present to start doing it.

Here is an overboard method from a 2+2 poster which would make a great ideal:
Some "More" Notes on Notes
